## Collagen changes with age. How you support your body can change too.

Collagen is often talked about as a beauty ingredient.

Something for wrinkles.

Something in skincare.

Something we start thinking about when we notice our skin changing.

But collagen is much bigger than that.

It is the most abundant protein in the human body and forms part of the structural framework of our skin, bones, cartilage, tendons, ligaments and other connective tissues.

And as we age, collagen naturally changes.

For women, the hormonal transition through perimenopause and menopause adds another important dimension.

So rather than thinking about collagen only when we want to change something we see in the mirror, I prefer a more proactive approach.

### Support your collagen. Support the body you're taking into the future.

Because looking well, moving well and ageing well are more connected than we sometimes realise.

## What exactly is collagen?

Collagen is one of the body's major structural proteins.

Different types of collagen are found throughout different tissues, helping provide structure and strength.

It's an important component of:

**Skin**

Where collagen contributes to structure and elasticity.

**Bones**

Where collagen forms part of the structural framework.

**Cartilage**

Where collagen contributes to its structure and function.

**Tendons and connective tissues**

Where collagen provides important structural support.

This is why the collagen conversation shouldn't begin and end with skin.

### Collagen is part of the structure that supports us throughout life.

## Why does collagen change as we age?

Our bodies continually make and remodel collagen.

But ageing changes this process.

Over time, the structure and organisation of collagen within our tissues changes, while our ability to produce and renew collagen is also affected.

We often notice this most visibly in our skin.

Fine lines become more noticeable.

Skin can feel drier.

Firmness changes.

Elasticity changes.

Our complexion can begin to look different.

The Collagen Boozt X material describes declining skin hydration and collagen among the common changes associated with ageing skin.

These changes are a normal part of ageing.

But normal doesn't mean we have to ignore them.

Understanding what is changing gives us an opportunity to become more intentional about how we support ourselves.

## Perimenopause, menopause and collagen

For women, there is another important chapter in the collagen story.

### Perimenopause.

This transition can begin years before menopause itself.

During perimenopause, oestrogen begins to fluctuate and eventually decline. Because oestrogen has important effects on skin physiology, many women begin noticing changes to their skin during their 40s.

Perhaps your skin suddenly feels drier.

Fine lines seem more noticeable.

Your skin doesn't feel as plump or firm.

Your hair or nails seem different.

Or you simply look in the mirror and think:

*"My skin has changed."*

For some women, this happens before they've even realised they're in perimenopause.

And as we move through menopause, declining oestrogen becomes another factor influencing skin collagen, thickness, hydration and elasticity.

### This is why collagen becomes particularly relevant from perimenopause onwards.

Not because ageing is something we need to fear.

And not because we're trying to look 25 forever.

But because this is a significant stage of biological change.

Understanding that gives us the opportunity to support our bodies differently.

## Perimenopause can be a prompt to invest in yourself

Perimenopause is often discussed almost entirely in terms of symptoms.

Hot flushes.

Sleep disruption.

Brain fog.

Mood changes.

Weight and body-composition changes.

But I think the conversation should be bigger.

Your 40s and 50s can also become the time when you start thinking more deliberately about the body you want to take into the decades ahead.

Your skin.

Your muscles.

Your bones.

Your cardiovascular health.

Your nutrition.

Your strength.

Your mobility.

Your recovery.

And your collagen.

### Perimenopause isn't simply something to get through.

### It can be a prompt to invest in your future health.

That's very much how we approach healthy ageing at Thrive Beyond 40.

Understand what's changing.

Support your foundations.

Then use targeted nutrition where it adds value.

## Beautiful skin starts from within

Skincare has an important place in looking after our skin.

So does sun protection.

But our skin isn't supported only from the outside.

The Collagen Boozt X philosophy is simple:

### Beautiful skin starts from within.

Its formulation combines marine collagen with hyaluronic acid and selected nutrients designed to support skin health and normal collagen formation from within.

I love this concept because it fits naturally with the Thrive Beyond 40 approach.

What we see on the outside is only one part of the story.

Nutrition matters too.

## Type I and Type III collagen

There isn't just one type of collagen in the human body.

Different collagen types occur throughout different tissues.

Two particularly important forms are **Type I and Type III collagen**.

And this is an important feature of the collagen we use in our Collagen Renewal Program.

**Collagen Boozt X contains hydrolysed marine collagen peptides, specifically Types I and III.**

Hydrolysis breaks the collagen into smaller peptides. The product information describes these as smaller, more absorbable molecules designed for enhanced bioavailability.

Each 50 mL serving provides:

### 8 G HYDROLYSED MARINE COLLAGEN

The collagen is sourced from fish and provides amino acids including glycine, proline and hydroxyproline, which are components associated with collagen proteins.

This gives us a much more targeted approach than simply thinking:

*"I should probably take some collagen."*

We can understand **what we're taking and why**.

## Collagen, skin structure and elasticity

One of the reasons I'm so positive about collagen nutrition is that we now have a much clearer understanding of its potential role in supporting skin.

The Australian Collagen Boozt X product information specifically identifies several key benefits of its marine collagen peptides:

**Supports skin elasticity**

Marine collagen contributes to the maintenance of skin elasticity.

**Supports skin structure**

Marine collagen supports the normal structure of the skin.

**Supports skin hydration**

Marine collagen peptides support hydration.

That makes collagen supplementation much more than a passing beauty trend for me.

### It's targeted nutrition for something we know naturally changes as we age.

## Hydration matters too

Collagen isn't the only interesting part of the formula.

Collagen Boozt X also contains **hyaluronic acid**.

Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally within the human body, including in the skin and connective tissues, and has a strong ability to bind with water molecules.

Each 50 mL serving of Collagen Boozt X contains **68.8 mg of hyaluronic acid**.

That gives the formula another dimension beyond collagen alone.

And it's one reason I prefer thinking about a complete formulation rather than simply comparing products based on the word "collagen" on the label.

## More than collagen alone

Collagen Boozt X combines its marine collagen and hyaluronic acid with a broader collection of nutrients.

Each 50 mL daily serving contains:

### 8 G HYDROLYSED MARINE COLLAGEN

Specifically Types I and III.

### 9.9 G PROTEIN

Protein contributes to the growth and maintenance of muscle mass and the maintenance of normal bones.

### HYALURONIC ACID

68.8 mg per serving.

### VITAMIN C

Vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin, bones and cartilage and contributes to protecting cells from oxidative stress.

### BIOTIN

Contributes to the maintenance of normal skin and hair.

### ZINC

Contributes to the maintenance of normal skin, hair, nails and bones.

### COPPER

Included as part of the formulation, with the product information identifying its role in normal skin pigmentation.

### MAGNESIUM

Contributes to normal muscle function, protein synthesis and maintenance of normal bones.

### CHICORY ROOT FIBRE

2.5 g per serving.

The formula also contains glycine, L-arginine, blueberry extract, acerola juice powder, rice extract and Streptococcus salivarius ssp. thermophilus TCI633.

That's why I don't think of Collagen Boozt X simply as a collagen drink.

### It's a broader nutritional formulation designed around skin, collagen and healthy ageing.

## There's a gut dimension too

This is one of the more interesting aspects of the formulation.

Collagen Boozt X includes **chicory root fibre**, a natural prebiotic fibre composed primarily of inulin.

This fibre passes through the upper digestive tract and is fermented by microbiota in the colon.

The newer Collagen Boozt X brochure specifically highlights **pre- and postbiotics** among its three key product features alongside marine collagen peptides and hyaluronic acid.

I think that's an important reminder that healthy-looking skin doesn't exist separately from the rest of our health.

At Thrive Beyond 40, we don't look at skin, nutrition, movement and gut health as completely disconnected conversations.

### The body works as a whole.

## Collagen isn't only about looking good

Skin is often what brings people to collagen.

And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

We want to look vibrant.

Feel confident.

Enjoy how we look in photographs.

Feel good when we get dressed.

And recognise ourselves when we look in the mirror.

Wanting to look good as we age doesn't mean we're refusing to age.

### Looking after yourself is not the same as fighting ageing.

But collagen also belongs in a broader healthy-ageing conversation.

The product itself is high in protein, and its Australian nutrition information recognises protein's contribution to the maintenance of muscle mass and normal bones.

That fits beautifully with the philosophy behind our Collagen Renewal Program:

### Look well. Move well. Age well.

## Build strength alongside collagen support

Collagen nutrition isn't a reason to stop thinking about the fundamentals.

It's a reason to bring them together.

Walk.

Lift weights.

Challenge your muscles.

Eat enough protein.

Eat a varied, nutrient-rich diet.

Protect your skin.

Sleep.

Recover.

Stay active.

And use targeted nutrition to support those foundations.

This becomes particularly important after 40.

We want muscle.

Strong bones.

Mobility.

Confidence.

Healthy-looking skin.

And the physical capability to keep doing the things we love.

That's why I don't see beauty and healthy ageing as two different goals.

### They can be part of the same strategy.

## Protect your collagen from the outside too

Supporting collagen from within doesn't make external care irrelevant.

Quite the opposite.

Protecting your skin from excessive UV exposure remains one of the most important things you can do for its long-term appearance and health.

Particularly in Australia.

Good skincare can have a place too.

As can hydration, sleep, good nutrition and not smoking.

The Thrive approach isn't about finding one product that does everything.

It's about creating **layers of support**.

### Nourish. Protect. Strengthen. Move. Recover. Support.

## Why I like a daily collagen routine

Healthy ageing isn't built through occasional bursts of motivation.

It's built through the things we do consistently.

That's why I like the idea of collagen becoming part of an everyday routine rather than something we reach for occasionally when we suddenly become worried about ageing.

The Australian Collagen Boozt X information recommends **one 50 mL bottle per day during its 10-day routine**, while also making clear that supplements aren't intended to replace a balanced and varied diet.

For me, that captures the balance perfectly.

### Strong foundations first. Targeted nutrition alongside them.

## Don't wait until ageing becomes something you want to fix

This is perhaps the most important message.

We don't have to wait until we're unhappy with our skin before thinking about collagen.

We don't wait until we've lost strength before deciding muscle matters.

We don't need to wait until movement becomes difficult before deciding mobility matters.

And women don't have to wait until menopause is over before starting to think proactively about the changes happening during perimenopause.

Healthy ageing is about looking ahead.

Collagen is already part of us.

It naturally changes as we age.

So supporting collagen through nutrition, lifestyle and targeted supplementation can become another way of investing in ourselves **before we feel we desperately need to**.

Instead of asking:

*"How do I fix ageing?"*

I'd rather ask:

### "How can I support the body I want to keep living in?"

## Getting older is the goal

I'm not interested in telling people they need to fight ageing.

Getting older is something many of us hope to have the privilege of doing.

What interests me is **how we feel, look and live while we do it**.

I want healthy ageing to mean:

Feeling strong.

Moving well.

Looking vibrant.

Feeling confident.

Travelling.

Staying active.

Enjoying life.

Looking after ourselves.

And continuing to invest in our health as the years move forward.

Collagen is one part of that bigger picture.

But it's an important one.

### Support your collagen.

### Nourish your body.

### Build your strength.

### Keep moving.

### Care for your skin.

### Invest in the years ahead.
